Jammella Anderson
Free Food Fridge Albany
Jammella (they/them) is a Queer & Black Albany-based community activist, abolitionist, trauma informed yoga teacher, and doula. Jammella’s experience with food insecurity, their work with food insecure populations, and their knowledge of the disparities within underserved communities in Albany and the greater capital region - motivated them to start the food justice program, ‘Free Food Fridge Albany.’ This project works with AND for the community to help end the food apartheid epidemic that systemic oppression has created within majority communities. Jammella has a fierce passion for helping the community and that has driven all of their mutual aid based projects - bridging the gap between resources and those in need. Free Food Fridge Albany, aims to combat food insecurity, de-stigmatize underserved communities in ALL ways & providing free fresh food and low intervention foods.
